Today

I am home!

Home in Breda, where I grew up. The place that I love!

Last night as my mom and I stood in my dad's shed, she said, "Oh and this needs cleaned out too!"

And my response, as the response of our family has been since March of 2010 when the words "lung" and "cancer" first entered our lips as one phrase, was "Mom, one day at a time!"

This morning I was up early so I laced up my tennis shoes, grabbed a sweatshirt and walked the trail outside of town that my father had walked so many days. I hit the bridge half-way out and stood just watching the windmills spin. Around and around they went. Spinning, making noise but not really going anywhere.

And I thought...so is life some days...around and around...lots of noise but no real accomplishments.

And then I turned and as I began my walk back to town the sun was rising. I began praying to myGod, the way my father had done so many times before on this same trail. And I just praised him aloud!

"Thank you God for THIS day! Thank you for who YOU are and who I don't have to be because I have you living inside me! Thank you for this moment...this peace, this calm, this simple moment in your nature, close to You."

And I began to speak in tongues. I began to praise my God in ways even I could not understand.

And this sun rose!

Then as I rounded the corner to my parent's home, I saw the sign my dad had placed on his shed just months before crossing over from this life to heaven...

James4:13-17
Boasting About Tomorrow

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

ONE DAY AT A TIME....TODAY...TODAY...WE WILL PRAISE HIS NAME!
